Current Work Schedule Info

Work began in October for APS’s contractor, Ferreira UTEC, to access manholes at various locations along the project route to remove and replace the underground line. In some instances, this requires large equipment near the manhole site to remove existing cable, run a robotic device through the pipeline to evaluate its integrity, and install new cable.

Current Work Schedule:  The current tentative schedule information is provided:

  • Work is currently taking place through March 1 in Coronado Road, between 7th Street and 10th Street for the contractor to splice together the previously installed cables.  This work is accessed from the manholes in Coronado Road, which may be CLOSED to through traffic, between 7th and 10th Street, during work hours to protect the work zone. Local residents and their visitors will be permitted access and detour signage will be in place to direct travelers around the closure area.

  • Scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 26, splicing work will take place in 9th Street, just north of Roosevelt Street. This work is expected to take 1-2 weeks to complete, and 9th Street is expected to remain open during this work, with traffic shifted away from the manholes/work area.

  • Scheduled for the week of March 4, crews will work in 9th Street, just south of Fillmore, to conduct repair work which will require excavation to access the pipeline. This work is being scheduled during ASU Preparatory's Spring Break to accommodate school activities. 9th Street will remain open for travel with traffic shifted away from the work zone.

  • We will continue to update you as work progresses.
